UPDATE: TN State Rep. Robin Smith posts update on federal investigation of former House Speaker Glen Casada

UPDATE: Wednesday, Tennessee State Representative Robin Smith released an update to a statement issued by her attorney regarding the federal investigation that centers on former House speaker Glen Casada.
On Friday morning, federal authorities raided several offices of state lawmakers at the Cordell Hull Building in Nashville and one of those offices belongs to Smith, who represents District 26 in Hamilton County.
Federal authorities also raided Smith's home in Hixson.
On Wednesday, Smith posted an update to the statement that was initially released by her attorney on Friday:
Most have seen the statement about the events on Friday, January 8, 2021:
"Earlier today, a search warrant was served on Robin Smith related to an ongoing investigation. She intends to cooperate fully with the investigation in all respects. While she would have preferred to do so voluntarily, Robin understands this may not have been possible. Robin is not the target of the investigation, and she has not done anything wrong. Please understand that due to the ongoing investigation, Robin will not be providing any further comment."
This statement was and remains accurate. I will make future comments as guided by my legal counsel and the process allows.
Yesterday, I spoke to members of the press on Capitol Hill to reaffirm my statement was accurate and that I am fully cooperating with authorities in the efforts to complete their investigation. To avoid jeopardizing this investigation, I will not participate in the hope of some that this would become a media circus surrounding these events.
Instead, I am working for you. For example, I have been working to draft and file legislation that addresses the needs of Tennesseans including stopping the cause of surprise billing as well as provide a fix for those whose insurance plans are not governed by the federal bill, a bill to provide a reporting requirement of the TANF funds to the Legislature to avoid an excess reserve to accumulate at the expense of Tennesseans in need, a bill to address the method that is written into insurance contracts that increase the cost of prescription drugs and working to make training credits and requirements for healthcare professionals such that if a Tennessean begins as an EMT/Paramedic or CRNA, their educational credits and training will seamlessly fit into other programs, such as LPN, RN and BSN to encourage continued growth.
It is an honor to serve the people of TN House District 26 and all Tennesseans. That work to solve problems to better the lives of Tennesseans continues and will continue. Robin
