New Catoosa Career & College Academy gets $3 million boost
Catoosa County Public Schools and Georgia Northwestern Technical College celebrated a milestone Tuesday, kicking off a project that will benefit students for years to come.
It isn't every day you get to cash a $3 million dollar check designated for providing career opportunities to high school students. But that's what's happening in Catoosa County.
Superintendent Denia Reese is among those celebrating the From HERE to CAREER! Academy's $3,000,000 grant award from the Technical College System of Georgia. It's a massive expansion of career programs already in place at Catoosa County's three high schools.
As part of the celebration, confetti was flying, honoring Mechatronics Students who have successfully completed their first semester and earned the Industrial Electrician Certificate. They receive a special cord to wear at graduation to signify their achievement. The students enjoyed the chance to thank the community and state leaders who make the program possible.
There will be more celebrations to come, as the charter career school becomes a reality. Construction is expected to begin soon at the Benton Place site, near the amphitheater on Battlefield Parkway.
