PREVIOUS STORY: Two people were shot outside Walmart in Brainerd on Greenway View Drive earlier on Tuesday.

It happened around 1:30 p.m.

Chattanooga police say that one of the victims is in life-threatening condition and the other victim is in stable condition.

Both victims were transported to local hospitals.

Channel 3 spoke to a man whose daughter was inside the store at the time of the shooting and he says he rushed to the scene to make sure she was okay.

“She calls and says ‘you have to come here immediately.’ There’s been a shooting at my job and needless to say it scared me and I kind of rushed here as fast as I could,” says David Littlejohn.

David Littlejohn and lives in Lafayette. He felt immediate fear.

“She might’ve been hurt. I didn’t know if she’d been shot or not or what had happened and it’s a scary feeling when your kids are at work or whatever and you’re not there to protect them or help them,” says Little.

Sgt. Victor Miller with the Chattanooga Police Department says two people were shot in the Walmart parking lot.

Sgt. Miller says the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle.

Police say they have a good description of the suspect and were searching in the large area around the Walmart and eastward to Camp Jordan.

“I do not believe there’s a threat to the public,” Sgt. Miller says. “It appears that this was a target, an incident towards an individual or group of individuals.”

Littlejohn hopes they catch whoever did this because they caused a panic.

“Sort of selfish if you ask me,” said Littlejohn.

His daughter’s safety is his top priority.

“I just want my daughter to change jobs because this is too dangerous here,” says Littlejohn.
