Chattanooga broadcaster Earl Freudenberg honored by state of Tennessee
Earl Freudenberg, who recently retired after a fifty-plus year career in Chattanooga radio news, was honored by the Tennessee State Legislature for his excellence in broadcasting and community service. Freudenberg worked mostly for WDOD and WDYN radio, and has been a longtime volunteer for the Forgotten Child Fund and Armed Forces Week.
In recent years, he has been inducted into the Tennessee Radio Hall of Fame, the Tennessee Journalism Hall of Fame, and the Southern Gospel Hall of Fame. Sen. Todd Gardenhire presented a proclamation to Freudenberg at a surprise luncheon in his honor at the Rib and Loin restaurant in Hixson. Gardenhire called the honoree "a good man who has earned the trust of his listeners, friends and neighbors in the Tennessee Valley."
