A former Rhea County deputy, accused of having what the TBI says was “an inappropriate sexual relationship with a teenager,” has been indicted by a grand jury.

The TBI says 23-year-old Juvencio Dwayne Bustos is accused of raping a 17-year-old.

The TBI says an investigation of the incident was launched by the District Attorney’s office on May 1, and Bustos was fired from the sheriff’s office when the allegation surfaced.

The Rhea County Grand Jury returned indictments on Monday, charging Bustos with one count of Rape, one count of Statutory Rape, and one count of Possession of Schedule III.

Bustos surrendered to TBI agents on Wednesday and was booked at the Rhea County Jail.

His bond was set at $150,000.
