After their 22-20 win over Trousdale County in TSSAA 2A state semifinal game, the Meigs County Tigers are preparing for a state championship game for the first time in 24 years.

The Tigers football program has never won a state championship, something the team, fans, and community have rallied around as they try to bring back a gold ball to Decatur for the first time.

The team is enjoying practicing in December and the perks of playing in a state title game.

The town will have a send-off for the team on Friday at 9 a.m.

The Tigers take on defending state champion Peabody on Saturday at Noon in Cookeville. Be sure to follow Channel 3 for coverage from their send-off and title game on Saturday.
