UPDATE: One person has died from a crash on Lee Highway in Collegedale on Monday afternoon.

The crash happened around 2:45 p.m. near the intersection of Edgmon Road.

Collegedale police spokesperson Bridgett Raper tells Channel 3, one person has been killed in a head-on collision and another person has been taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Lee Highway was closed between Chesterton Way and Edgmon Road for several hours to allow cleanup of the crash and police to conduct an investigation.

Lee Highway has now reopened.

The names of the people involved have not been released.

This is the second crash to close Lee Highway near Edgmon Road in less than a week.

A fiery crash involving a dump truck closed the same portion of Lee Highway.

ORIGINAL STORY: A crash in Collegedale on Monday afternoon has closed a portion of Lee Highway.

It happened around 2:45 p.m. near Edgmon Road.

The Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department says Lee Highway is closed in the area due to the crash. 

Injuries are unknown at this time.

TDOT expects to have the road reopened by 5:00 p.m.
