Hamilton County man sentenced to 12 years in prison for aggravated robbery and kidnapping
A Hamilton County man will be spending 12 years behind bars after being convicted of aggravated robbery and kidnapping.
Derron Hill was convicted of a premeditated armed robbery that happened back on April 27, 2018.
Assistant District Attorney Colin Campbell said Hill and another woman tricked a man to a local InTown Suites on Lee Highway.
The victim thought he was going to meet a woman he knew to have sex with, but once he arrived inside the room another woman Miranda Barley was in the room.
Derrian Hill appeared out of nowhere hidden in the closet and robbed the victim of his wallet, credit cards, and car.
Investigators say the victim was stripped from the waist down, tied up and shoved in the closet.
The victim was able to free himself and ran about a half-mile to a nearby Hampton Inn to call the authorities.
Law enforcement officers found Hill and Barley three weeks later in Tallahassee, Florida with the victim's personal possessions
Derrian Hill was tried and convicted on September 25, 2019 of Aggravated Kidnapping and Aggravated Robbery.
Hamilton County Criminal Court Judge Tom Greenholtz sentenced Hill to 12 years in prison.
The other suspect, Miranda Barley, pled guilty on June 4, 2019 to Robbery, a Class C Felony.
She was sentenced to three years, suspended after serving 11 months and 29 days in custody. She is now in state supervised probation, drug and alcohol testing.
