A Hamilton County man is facing charges after authorities found him and his son unresponsive following a drug overdose.

A Chattanooga Police officer responded to an overdose at a home located in the 2800 block East 26th Street on October 27, 2019.

Investigators discovered Melton Brown III and his 17-year-old son unresponsive after overdosing on heroin.

Police say two women who were also drug users were inside of the home at that time, but they were responsive and alert.

Another officer on the scene administered nasal narcan to the father and son in which both became responsive.

They were transported to Erlanger for further evaluation.

Investigators say Brown is facing multiple charges including child abuse and neglect, contributing to the delinquency of a child and reckless endangerment.

Melton Brown III is scheduled to appear in court on December 5.
