Officials in Sequatchie County say nearly 1000 road signs had been stolen since January.

Sequatchie County Highway Department says it has cost them thousands of dollars to replace road signs, brackets, and poles.

A spokesperson says cameras have now been placed at various locations throughout the county.

Without those signs, emergency personnel and postal services are not able to locate addresses.

If those cameras are stolen then video footage will be sent directly to law enforcement.

All persons that are caught will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.

If you see anyone stealing road signs, please call the Sequatchie County Highway Department at 423-949-2424 or 911.
