Semi crash spills 40,000 pounds of avocados on Texas interstate
Texans has a mess on their hands early Tuesday morning after a semi crashed and spilled its load of 40,000 pounds of avocados on the roadway.
The Cibolo Police Department tweeted about the unfortunate event, which happened about 12:30am about 35 northeast of San Antonio.
Two big rigs were involved in the crash; the avocado trailer was crashed into by a second semi, which tore the trailer open and dumping the green fruit all over Interstate 10. A third passenger van was also struck and was able to leave the scene later.
Two people were taken to nearby hospitals with minor injuries.
Crews from the Texas Department of Transportation were brought in to clean up the slippery messy and ensure the road was safe for drivers.
Once everything was taken care of, Cibolo police had some fun with the crash on Twitter.
