Memphis airport threatened by storm; travelers sent to restrooms for safety
A tornado watch along the western part of Tennessee sent travelers at Memphis International Airport Monday morning.
The storms are part of the same system that slammed Texas Sunday night, damaging homes and leaving some 100,000 people without power.
That same storm system is the same one the Tennessee Valley will see later Monday afternoon and evening, but it is expected to weaken.
The tornado watch for the Memphis area was canceled about 8:45am, but heavy rains and strong winds persist.
Travelers were later moved from the safety of the restrooms and TSA agents began re-screening passengers, making for a crowded situation for many.
