Mocs grind out 16-13 win over ETSU in the Rail Rivalry
Chattanooga and ETSU have renewed their rivalry ever since the Buccaneers returned to the Southern Conference in football in 2016. It's since been called the "Rail Rivalry" with a 108 pound railroad tie given to the winner and remaining in their possession for the next year. A tradition that began in 2018.
The Bucs bring the rail to Chattanooga with an 0-3 conference record and the Mocs looking to stay unbeaten in the SoCon.
Chattanooga came out hot, scoring on their first drive on an Ailym Ford touchdown run to go up 7-0.
After a muffed punt, the Bucs would get on the board courtesy of a highlight reel catch from Will Huzzie from 32-yds to tie the game up at 7-7 early in the second quarter.
ETSU would add two field goals before the half to take a 13-7 lead into the locker room.
Chattanooga would come out hot again to start the second half as Ford would score his second touchdown of the night on a 3rd and goal from 14-yds out.
Mocs kicker Victor Ulmo was having a night to forget until the tides turned at the right time. Ulmo missed three field goals and an extra point that would have given Chattanooga the lead on their second touchdown.
Ulmo came through when it mattered most as he drilled a 30-yd field goal with 14 seconds remaining and the Mocs come away with a 16-13 Southern Conference win over rival ETSU.
The Rail will remain in Chattanooga for the next year!
