The Bradley County Sheriff's Office says deputies responded to a call reporting a domestic disturbance between a male and a female involving a firearm around 2:00 a.m.

The phone call came from the woman, who told the dispatcher that her husband had a gun that he threatened to use on her and himself.

By the time the deputies had arrived, the male had left.

The female was transported to the hospital but refused treatment.

Deputies returned to the house and noticed that the blinds were closed, indicating that the male came back.

Deputies entered the house and found the male locked inside a bathroom. He refused to come out.

The male reached for his gun and, in response, a deputy shot him in the shoulder.

The male's injury wasn't life-threatening and is being treated at the hospital.

After treatment, the male will be taken into custody.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation is investigating the incident.

“I have asked District Attorney General Steve Crump for an investigation,” says Sheriff Steve Lawson. “The TBI is now on the scene conducting that investigation.”
