Large fire at Hamilton Pointe Apartments leaves 3 dogs dead and 32 residents displaced
32 residents and 4 dogs are receiving Red Cross assistance after a second alarm fire at the Hamilton Pointe Apartments on East Brainerd Rd.
3 dogs also died in the fire.
It happened around 4:45 p.m. Saturday.
The entire 1800 building was destroyed, but after several hours, crews were able to successfully stop the flames from spreading to other nearby buildings in the apartment complex.
The fire appears to have started in a lower unit and spread to the rest of the building.
Red Cross is assisting impacted residents.
PREVIOUS STORY: Chattanooga Fire Department responded to a multiple alarm fire at Hamilton Pointe Apartments around 5:00 p.m.
CFD stated that the 1800 building was the one that caught fire and seems to have started in a lower unit.
16 units were affected by the fire. There are no reported injuries or entrapments. Red Cross has been contacted to help affected residents.
CFD says several companies were called in to assist with this operation due to the substantial nature of the fire.
