Volkswagen to hire 350 people in Tennessee to help produce new model
Volkswagen is looking to hire 350 people across Tennessee. The Chattanooga plant is hosting a job fair Saturday morning. This comes as Volkswagen unveiled their new 2020 Atlas Cross Sport, set for production in Chattanooga, on Friday.
Burkhard Ulrich, Senior Vice President of Human Resources at the company says people have the new car to thank for the jobs.
"They are directly connected to the Cross Sport because we are going up as our volume. We now have more models in the plant,” he said.
The event is hosted by Aerotek, a recruiting and staffing company.
“Aerotek is pleased to be partnering with Volkswagen on hiring efforts in the Chattanooga area. The job openings are a fantastic opportunity to support Tennessee’s thriving auto industry through a dynamic and rewarding work environment,” a spokesperson for Aerotek said in a statement. “We encourage anyone with interest or relevant experience to stop by the hiring event and learn more about joining the Volkswagen team.”
Ulrich says they're hiring workers with a wide range of skill sets.
"We are basically looking for production team members for all shops. Main focus would be body shop, but also paint, assembly and logistics. We are looking for people with experience,” he said.
Anyone interested in applying should bring an up to date resume and photo ID with them. Interviews are from 9 to noon at Volkswagen Chattanooga on Saturday.
