Another Lee University student is a contestant on “The Voice” this season. Jared Herzog is a captain for the Flames cross-country team and a worship leader at the school.

He stopped by our studio today to talk with us on Wednesday afternoon. You could see the smile on his face and the excitement in his eyes the entire time. He is beyond grateful for all the love and support he has received over the past few days.

During his blind audition, Jared held back tears and even had to turn around and compose himself before talking to all the judges.

Believe it or not, he said he has “never been too confident” in his singing abilities. After Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, and John Legend were all fighting over him, it's safe to say that has changed.

"Definitely a lot more confidence instilled in me since that day and even all the affirmation and love and encouragement from this community here has really also encouraged me,” Herzog told us.

A lot of the support has come from the Lee University community. This includes former Lee student and winner of “The Voice” Jordan Smith. He tweeted at Herzog congratulating him for killing his performance on the show.

He told me he is still waiting to find out when we can see him on the stage again. So stay tuned to “The Voice” on NBC all season long.
