The Tennessee Valley Authority's operations are under two advisories, a Conservative Operations Alert and Power Supply Alert, due to the record heat.

A Conservative Operations Alert means TVA will postpone unnecessary maintenance that could limit generation.

A Power Supply Alert means TVA is conserving energy by turning off unnecessary equipment.

Despite the alerts, TVA says they aren't having problems meeting energy demands, but have broken energy demand records with Wednesday’s peak demand of 28,353 MW at 97 F at 5 p.m. as the third-highest in TVA's history.
