Lawsuit filed against Bledsoe and Pikeville law enforcement
A Bledsoe County man has filed a federal lawsuit against a Bledsoe County deputy, a Pikeville Police officer, and city and county governments.
He claims officers used excessive force while responding to a domestic violence complaint at his home last year.
In the lawsuit, James Evans says Officer Ricky Hodge and Deputy Chase Robert jumped on top of him, slammed him to the ground, broke his foot and used a stun gun on him. He says their actions caused him severe, permanent injuries and emotional distress. Evans claims negligence in hiring, training and disciplining the officers. He is suing for one million dollars in punitive damages and $750,000 in compensatory damages.
