NASHVILLE, TN (AP) - Authorities in Tennessee say they are resuming their search for a hiker who went missing at a local park.

News outlets report 67-year-old Wallace "Buzz" Carter went for a hike Saturday afternoon at Beaman Park and didn't return home.

A Metro Nashville police statement says Carter's phone was found Saturday night inside his locked car at the park.

Police and the Office of Emergency Management started their search Sunday before pulling back because of darkness. Both departments sent out a request for experienced hikers to join them Monday morning as they continue to search for Carter.

Carter was last seen wearing a gray shirt, blue shorts, and hiking boots. His family says he's an avid hiker.

Beaman Park covers nearly 1,700 acres and includes five miles of moderate-rated trails.
