Officials with the Murray County Sheriff’s Office say a domestic-related incident resulted in a fatal shooting on Tuesday.

It happened around 4:30 p.m. at a home off Sequoyah Drive.

MCSO Chief Deputy Jimmy Davenport says deputies arrived at the scene to find Ashley Abercrombie deceased from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Chief Davenport says Abercrombie's stepfather, Steven Rahm, was found with a gunshot wound to the arm.

Davenport says situations like this are heartbreaking for everyone involved.

"Obviously, it's never good. It's a sad situation, it truly is,” Chief Davenport said. “I've been doing this for, I think this is my 17th year, and it doesn't get easier in these particular types of situations."

Chief Davenport says, to his knowledge, deputies haven't been called to the family's home for any domestic situations in the past.

The Murray County Sheriff’s Office and the GBI are investigating the incident.
