UPDATE: The driver that caused last night's accident is Megan Wilson, 25.

Wilson has been charged with DUI and speeding.

PREVIOUS STORY: Officials say U.S. 27 is back open following a 2-vehicle crash.

The accident caused both the north and southbound lanes to be shut down for a few hours.

PREVIOUS STORY: A 2-vehicle crash closed both north and southbound lanes in a section of U.S. 27 Saturday night between Thrasher Pike and Harrison Lane. 

Soddy Daisy Police Chief Jeff Gann says both drivers were heading south on 27 when one vehicle rear-ended the vehicle in front of it sending it onto the shoulder of the road, the first vehicle went into the median, then into the northbound lanes before ending up in the ditch. 

The driver in the vehicle that went off the shoulder was taken to the hospital in critical condition.  The driver that caused the accident was arrested and charged with DUI and speeding.

According to the TDOT Smartway map, the area will be closed until at least 2:30 Sunday morning.
