Jeep faces federal probe into steering, weld problems in Wranglers
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says it has granted a consumer’s petition asking for a probe into 2018 and 2019 Jeep Wranglers.
The popular SUVs have had complaints from more the 3,500 owners about weld problems or steering issues which present themselves as shimmy or wobble.
No crashes or injuries have been reported. No official recall has been announced, but Fiat Chrysler is cooperating, with dealers who will will install a hydraulic device to mitigate vibration to address customer concerns.
The fix is free.
