UPDATE: A 74-year-old man who police say confronted Soddy-Daisy police officer Thursday night with a weapon was fatally shot by police.

Police were dispatched to a home on Harvest Court about 10:00pm for a report of a domestic disorder.

As they were investigating, John Emory Sawyer III confronted officers with a weapon, according to Matt Lea, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office spokesman.

Soddy-Daisy Police Chief Gann says that the three Soddy Daisy officers involved in the incident have been placed on administrative leave, which is in accordance with Soddy Daisy Police policy.

PREVIOUS STORY: Soddy-Daisy police are investigating an officer-involved shooting on Thursday night. Chief Jeff Gann confirms his officers have been involved in a shooting with a suspect in the Harvest Court area near Posey Hollow Road.

Gann says the officers involved are okay and confirms that one person has been killed.

Hamilton County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Matt Lea says District Attorney General Neal Pinkston has asked the sheriff's office to investigate the incident.
