UPDATE: Class Action lawsuit filed against Tennessee American Water over main break
A Class Action Complaint has been filed in the Circuit Court of Hamilton County against Tennessee American Water, a subsidiary of American Water Works Company, over the main break that left thousands without water.
The lawsuit was filed on Tuesday by Chattanooga attorney Lee Davis of Davis & Hoss, P.C.
“We filed the case to ensure that area residents and business are not left holding the bag for Tennessee American Water’s utter failure to provide a safe continuous supply of tap water,” said Davis.
Davis said a similar lawsuit was filed against another one of American Water's subsidiary companies, West Viriginia-American Water.
"While we cannot guarantee an outcome, we hope for an equally good result here and are prepared to put forth the effort necessary to see that happens on behalf of our clients and everyone adversely affected by this water outage,” added Davis.
