Today, the Chattanooga Area Food Bank will distribute USDA food commodities to Tennesseans who are facing hunger.

Recipients will receive approximately 30 pounds of food including fresh fruits and vegetables.

The quarterly drive-through-style food distribution will take place from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at the First Tennessee Pavilion in Chattanooga. Tuesday's distribution replaces the Saturday morning distributions that were previously held at the Food Bank’s warehouse on Amnicola Highway.

The time and location are different than normal, but the benefits remain the same according to the Chattanooga Area Food Bank. The new format is intended to make it easier for families and individuals to access nutritious food.

No documentation is required. But, recipients must be Tennessee residents and provide their name, address, monthly income and the number of people in their household per USDA regulations.

Those wishing to pick up commodities on behalf of someone else must present an authorization form which can be obtained at the Food Bank at 2009 Curtain Pole Road, Chattanooga, TN 37406.
