Asst. Collegedale police chief resigns following calls for special commission meeting
The assistant chief of the Collegedale Police Department has resigned from his job on Monday, following the firing of three officers last week.
Spokesperson Bridgett Raper confirms the resignation of Assistant Chief James Hardeman on Monday.
Some members of the city commission are seeking answers to why the officers were fired and why the city spokesperson was replaced. That's why Vice Mayor Tim Johnson and commissioners Debbie Baker and Ethan White called for an emergency meeting to happen this week.
Raper says the emergency meeting will not happen this week because adequate public notice was not provided in accordance with the Open Meetings Act.
Raper says discussion of the special called meeting will be on the agenda for the regularly scheduled meeting on September 16.
