HCSO: Corrections employee arrested for assault, cruelty to children in Catoosa County
UPDATE: A correctional employee with the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office was arrested in Catoosa County on the night of September 6, 2019 on charges of aggravated assault and cruelty to children after an incident in Catoosa County.
On the night of September 6, deputies responded to the domestic dispute on 931 Cross Street in Rossville, Georgia.
According to a report, Smith arrived at his home where his wife and a male friend were sitting on the porch.
Mrs. Smith says Mr. Smith accused her of cheating and proceeded to assault the male friend until he fell to the ground.
Mr. Smith fled the scene.
Upon the deputies' arrival, deputies observed the victim (name withheld) "bleeding profusely" on his face and head, and noticed he struggled to stand up.
There were several witnesses, including a 14-year-old juvenile, that confirmed Mrs. Smith's story.

According to the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office, Timothy Smith was arrested off-duty for aggravated assault and cruelty to children after an incident in Catoosa County.
The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office is conduction an internal investigation.
A criminal investigation will be completed by the Catoosa County Sheriff's Office.
Smith has been placed on administrative leave with pay pending the outcome of the investigations.
As of 11 a.m. on Saturday, Smith was still in the Catoosa County Jail.
