It's been 22 years since the Soddy Daisy Trojans entered a season as defending region champions. To put it into perspective, no one on the current team was even alive. If they feel any pressure, they're turning it into motivation.

"If we're going to do good, we have to do this in practice, we have to go this hard in practice, we can't sit around. We can't lack anything or whatever. To be able to get to where we were last year, we have to do better than we did last year," senior running back Hayden Maynor said.

On paper, the Trojans have already taken their first step in being better than last year. Due to their four team region, they're already in the playoffs.

"The last thing you want to be is a team in the playoffs with a losing record. You still want to go out and win games and you still want to build. You want to get hot at the right time which is the beginning of November," head coach Justin Barnes said.

Soddy Daisy got a taste of what November football is like in 2018, even winning their first home playoff game in over two decades. And with their senior leadership and talent on offense, the 2019 Trojans don't just want a taste, they want the whole thing.\

"Being relentless, not leaving anything up here, not leaving anything down there after the games. Just giving it our all. Giving it our all in the weight room and everything. If we do that, and listen to the coaches and everything and do what they tell us to do, then we'll be right back in that spot we were last year," Maynor said.
