UPDATE: Chattanooga police say the the Highway 153 on-ramp to I-75 South reopened after deadly crash on Tuesday evening.

The crash happened around 6:30 p.m. and involved only one vehicle.

Police say 49-year-old Timothy Holder ran off the road in curve and hit a wall. Holder was thrown from the Jeep when it hit the wall.

Police say the empty Jeep kept moving down the ramp, crossed two lanes of traffic and ended up hitting another wall.

Police say the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt.

PREVIOUS STORY: A deadly crash has closed the Highway 153 on-ramp to I-75 South on Tuesday.

The crash happened around 6:30 p.m.

Chattanooga police say only one vehicle was involved in the crash. Police say the driver of a Jeep was ejected from the SUV and landed on the interstate.

Police say the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

TDOT expects to have the crash cleared around 9:00 p.m.
