Thursday night brings a clear sky and lower humidity! That will make the moonrise at 8:56 PM EDT pleasant to watch and enjoy. Thursday night looks mostly clear, and as the humidity drops, it will be a nice night to view this month's full moon. The August Full Moon is known as the Sturgeon Moon, also known as the Green Corn Moon, or the Barley Moon.

Like all of the monthly full moons, the August full moon gets its name from our ancestors. At one time, August brought the best time to catch large Sturgeon fish in our lakes in the U.S. The other names, Green Corn, and Barley, get their name from what's usually harvested this time of year!

The next full moon is the Harvest Full Moon, which is on September 14th this year.
