Chattanooga FC enters new era as they open NPSL Members Cup play
The Chattanooga Football Club has seen many changes in its decade-plus of existence. No bigger than their latest endeavor.
The boys in blue began NPSL Members Cup play Saturday night at Fort Finley as they usher in a new era of soccer in the Scenic City.
They had a fitting first opponent as well. The New York Cosmos returned to Chattanooga for the first time since they won the NPSL National Championship at Finley Stadium in 2015 with a 3-2 win in extra time.
The match was pretty even through the first 45 minutes of play and beyond. The Cosmos would strike in the second half on a beautiful goal from Junior Burgos for the only goal of the match.
New York sneaks by CFC again with a 1-0 victory. Chattanooga FC will travel to Michigan next Saturday to take on Detroit City as Members Cup play is fully underway.
