A house fire late Wednesday night left a Chattanooga home damaged and the residents displaced.

At 11:48PM Wednesday night Chattanooga Fire Department responded to the home fire on Weigelia Drive in the Washington Hills Community.

When firefighters first arrived, they encountered heavy smoke and flames in the kitchen and attic space of the structure, according to Chattanooga Fire Department Battalion Chief Brandon Schroyer.

Crews were able to bring the fire under control in about 15 minutes.

No injuries were reported since the home's occupants had evacuated before firefighters arrived.

Two adults were displaced from their home. The property value is estimated at $165,000 with a loss of approximately $50,000.

The cause of the fire has been ruled accidental.
