UPDATE: Severe thunderstorm warning expanded to Georgia, NC counties
UPDATE: A Severe Thunderstorm Warning is in place for southwestern Murray and southeastern Whitfield Counties until 3:45pm.
In North Carolina, Cherokee County and northwestern Clay County are under Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 3:45pm.
Both Hamilton and Bradley Counties were under a Severe Thunderstorm Warning until 2:45pm which have expired.
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning was in place for western Catoosa County, southwestern Whitfield County and central Walker County, northern Union County, northeastern Fannin County until 3:30pm, which have expired.
The National Weather Service says that 60 mph wind gusts and quarter size hail are possible.
Hail damage to vehicles may be expected, as well as wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
On Twitter, Shane Fletcher posted photos that show some damage to the main terminal roof at Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport.
Crews are working to secure the roof. No injuries were reported, but the airport is surveying the damage to determine its extent.
The terminal is open for travelers, but if you have an evening flight, check with your airline for possible delays.
