On Wednesday, the Tennessee Department of Correction (TDOC) arrested several people for the movement of contraband within a prison facility.

After a TDOC investigation into the matter, 14 people, including 5 civilians and 9 inmates, were charged with either introduction of contraband into a penal facility or conspiracy to introduce contraband into a penal facility. Those charged include:

TDOC Commissioner Tony Parker commented on the arrests, stating, "We stay committed to working with local law enforcement to vigorously prosecute anyone who attempts it be it inmate, visitor or staff. Threats to the safety of our facilities will never be tolerated and this should be a reminder to everyone listening that we remain vigilant in this fight against contraband.”
