A man has been charged in a fatal wreck that happened on July 23rd. 

According to an affidavit of complaint, a white Toyota 4-Runner was laying on its roof on Ashmore Avenue. 

They say 25-year-old William Ross Cheek was the driver. 

The passengers were 24-year-old Trenton Duncan and 23-year-old Haven West who was ejected from the vehicle and died. 

According to court documents, Cheek told deputies they left West's apartment "drama and yelling started between some friends and West's roommates." Cheek, Duncan and West decided to go to Duncan's apartment to play poker, before deciding to take West back to her apartment. During the drive, Cheek said he lost control while on a curve. The report goes on state Cheek "steered into the the slide and gave t gas to try to pull the vehicle back straight. However, the vehicle rolled over on its side and ran off the left side of the street striking a utility pole." 

Investigators say Cheek admitted to having four beers before the crash. They say three hours after crash, he was taken to the Hamilton County jail to take give a breath sample, which came back with a result of a .10 blood alcohol level. 

Cheek is charged with driving under the influence, vehicular homicide, reckless endangerment, reckless driving and driving on roadways laned for traffic. 

Channel 3 spoke to Cheek on the phone briefly on Thursday about the crash. When asked if there was anything he wanted to say, he said " There is nothing I can say. I'm still processing what happened." 

He is due in court on August 2nd.

Friends have commented on the page describing West. 

One person wrote in part, "She was an amazing person who brought smiles to all with her stellar personality." Someone else posted a comment saying, "Haven was a GREAT person with a lot to offer & didn’t deserve this."
