A tractor-trailer crash on I-75 in Bradley County shut down a portion of the interstate on Monday.

It happened around 8:45 p.m. at the Harrison Pike overpass at mile marker 23.

Bradley County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Adam Lewis says the unidentified driver of the semi crossed into the median and crashed into the “middle support bridge” of the overpass, causing the truck to erupt in flames.

The driver was able to escape the semi and wasn’t hurt.

TDOT inspected the structural integrity of the bridge. Lewis says TDOT’s inspection cleared the reopening of the bridge.

Lewis says the crash affected traffic on I-75 on the north and southbound sides.

All lanes have been reopened, but traffic is still congested.

Cleanup is expected to continue through the night.
