The Dalton Police Department is asking for the public’s help with identifying two people accused of stealing a ferret from a local pet store last month.

It happened at Petland in the 1300 block of W. Walnut Avenue on June 26, shortly after 1:00 p.m.

Police say a young man and woman can be seen on surveillance video hanging around the ferret cage.

After asking the staff at the store about purchasing the $230 animal, police the say the male suspect can be seen grabbing the ferret and stuffing it in the female suspect’s purse.

Police say the woman was wearing a white dress and had dirty blonde hair that was pulled up in a bun with white shoes. Store employees told police that she spoke with a speech impediment.

Police say the male suspect was wearing a white t-shirt and black shorts. He was also wearing a black baseball hat with a large green logo and had a beard.
