We're onto day 6 with temperatures in the 90s. The heat index will climb to 97-99 by 2 PM, and by 3PM-4PM the heat index will climb to 100-101. A Heat Advisory is issued when the air temperature reaches 103, or the heat index climbs to 105. I don't see a Heat Advisory issued through Wednesday. However, by the end of the week, as temperatures rise to 96 to 97, the heat index could reach advisory criteria. If you or someone you know needs assistance during this heat, the Salvation Army in Chattanooga is extending its hours this week. They will be open from 9 AM to 5 PM every day the air temperature is forecast to be above 90. They will also have a hydration station, with cold bottled water available. The Salvation Army is asking for folks to donate large new box fans, bottled water, and deodorant this week to help meet the demands of the public.

The week brings small rain chances in the afternoon. These will be very hit and miss in nature, and won't last long. For the 4th of July plans, it looks likely for heat indices of 100-102.

I'm seeing a slightly better storm chance from Friday-Saturday for the upcoming weekend.
