City council sets date for public hearing, vote on proposed Business Improvement District
The Business Improvement District proposal for downtown Chattanooga is still alive.
Tuesday night, the city council voted to move a public hearing and final vote to July 30.
Five council members voted in favor of the move and the remaining four abstained.
Last week, the local chapter of the NAACP called for a protest to oppose the measure, saying it would move the city back toward segregation and Jim Crow laws.
