A house fire in East Brainerd on Tuesday afternoon is under investigation.

It happened around 3:50 p.m. in the 9200 block of Charbar Circle.

Hamilton County EMS spokeswoman Amy Maxwell says Tri-Community volunteer firefighters arrived at the scene to find smoke coming from the eaves of the home.

Maxwell says a small fire was found on the floor of a bedroom and was quickly put out.

Witnesses say the woman who lives in the home could be heard screaming for help shortly after she got home and found the fire.

The fire caused about $10,000 in damages.

No one was injured.

Maxwell says the resident will have to find another place to stay for the night, because of the heavy smoke damage.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department and the Fire Marshal’s Office.
