Clarksville native Hanley Long wins 87th Tennessee Women's Amateur
The 87th Tennessee Women's Amateur came to Chattanooga this week at Black Creek Golf Club.
Young women from all over the state came to compete for one of the most prestigious women's golf championships in Tennessee.
Chattanooga was well-represented among the field including current UTC women's golfers Maddy McDanel and Rheagan Hall. Also, UTC women's golf coach Colette Murray competed this week.
Ultimately it came down to the final group of Hanley Long, 14-year old Sophie Linder, and Malia Stovall.
Long took a one-shot lead into the 18th and had to go up and down from the bunker to save par that won her the title.
Long said she hasn't won an individual championship since her senior year of high school and plans to turn pro after today's event.
What a way to end her amateur career. Congratulations to the 87th Tennessee Women's Amateur champion, Hanley Long!
