Chattanooga police cars surrounded Fairleigh Street early Tuesday morning after a 9 year old boy was shot in the jaw.

According to an affidavit, Genesis Suggs originally told police that her son was shot at a party on Taylor Street.

She even took police to a specific house the next day, describing the events of the night before.

But police say that was all a lie.

She turned herself in to police and admitted the shooting happened when she and her boyfriend, Deisman Harrison, were at his home, struggling over a cell phone and that's when they bumped into a dresser and a gun fell... And discharged, hitting her son in another room.

Harrison denies that story and says it didn't happen at the apartment and he wasn't even there.

Neighbors say police came by Thursday evening and arrested Harrison.

The documents described the gun as a small black pistol belonging to Harrison.

Harrison has two felony convictions in the state and is prohibited from owning a firearm.

Harrison and Suggs are charged with reckless endangerment and aggravated assault.

Suggs also faces charges for filing a false police report.

Police say Suggs lie caused them to use unnecessary police resources to locate a crime scene.

Suggs and Harrison’s bonds are set at fifteen thousand dollars and are expected to appear in court on June 12th.
