Teen accused of shooting near Riverbend may appear in court today
A teen accused of shooting two teenagers near Riverbend Saturday night may appear in court Monday, according to officials with the Hamilton County court system.
Hamilton County Court Administrator Sam Mairs said if they have this teenager in custody, he would have a detention hearing at 12:30 p.m. Monday.
According to Chattanooga Police, the teenager is facing several charges including two counts of attempted murder.
Police say he shot two 13-year-olds in the parking lot on Aquarium Way just before 10:00pm Saturday night.
The teen pulled a gun on an officer during a chase but no shots were fired, according to police.
The two victims, both 13-year-old boys, are expected to recover.
This case involves a child, which is why the name of the suspect has not been released.
If a detention hearing is held Monday, the judge will decide whether or not the suspect should be detained or released while the proceedings are pending in the case.
According to Mairs, the judge assigned to the case could decide whether or not to allow the release of the court documents during the detention hearing.
Officials with the Chattanooga Police Department said they will not be releasing any additional information about this case.
