90s continue for 8th day in a row!
A southwest wind today should pick up in the afternoon, with winds gusting 20-25 mph. This should bring temperatures to near 92-93 today. We luckily won't be breaking the record high today of 99 from 1941. Look for plenty of sunshine with a few clouds by afternoon. The dew points during the peak hours will be near 60-62, this should do us some favors, as far as the heat index goes. The heat index in the afternoon should only be a degree or two higher than the actual air temperature from 2PM-6PM. No rain to tell about either today.
A few showers look to return to the Tennessee Valley by Thursday evening, and mainly after 7PM. A weak front will approach the area, bringing light rain showers tomorrow night. Rainfall amounts of 0.10" or less are expected, and shouldn't impact Riverbend or the main event as Lionel Richie hits the stage Thursday night. Light hit and miss showers will be possible on Friday morning, but this looks limited to those east of Chattanooga and mostly near Polk, McMinn, Monroe, Cherokee, and the Blue Ridge Mts before daybreak Friday. Again showers will be light under bringing amounts under 0.10" total.
This front will also drop temperatures, slightly. Highs will still be well above normal (average high is 83-84) the next few days, and temperatures will be in the upper 80s Friday through next week. Temperatures will also start to get a tad more comfortable at night, as lows start to drop near normal by Friday night, in the mid to low 60s.
