Chattanooga Humane Educational Society executive director resigns
The Chattanooga Humane Educational Society is looking for a new Executive Director following Bob Citrullo's resignation.
Bob Citrullo has served the organization for more than five years.
In a letter to the shelter’s Board of Directors, Citrullo cited personal health concerns as the reason for his departure.
Dr. Tai Federico sent the following email to inform the Mayor.
"I regret to inform you that a few hours ago I received an email from Bob Citrullo in which he resigned as Executive Director effective immediately. I have not been able to contact him personally but I am of the understanding that it was for health reasons."
Dr. Federico tells Channel 3 that everything is running smoothly at HES and the leadership team including the Operations Director is still in place and the pets are being taken care of.
The Board of Directors will immediately begin the search for a new director of the shelter. The search will be led by various board and senior staff members.
The organization is on track to break ground on a new 36,000-square-foot facility this summer.
An interim director will be announced in the coming days.
