Record heat expected this weekend
Barbecues, pool parties, and Riverbend. There's a lot going on in the next 7 days, and the weather looks too hold off for the weekend, meanwhile bringing possible record-breaking temperatures. The record today is 94, set from 1953. We will come close again. The forecast high today is 92. High dew points will bring a heat index of 93-96 during the peak hours. There is a small shower chance after 1PM. Most will be completely dry, with only a stray shower popping up on the plateaus today.
The Lookouts take on Birmingham again this evening. First pitch will be warm and muggy with a temperature of 89 for the First Pitch. A heat index of 91-92 looks probable for the first pitch. It will be a warm game, with very light winds, so bring a fan. If you're working in this heat through next weekend-remember to replenish what drinks that contain electrolytes. The overnight low-temperature tonight should only fall to 70, which is 10 degrees above normal.
Saturday and Sunday look great, as the rain chance looks nil. The record high on Saturday is 95, and the record high on Sunday is 94. I think Sunday will be the best day where we'll tie or break the record high. Regardless, it's going to be a scorcher! The 90-degree highs continue through Wednesday. Memorial Day brings, well, Memorial Day weather. Look for a high of 90, with only a 10% chance for showers. As Riverbend kicks off next Wednesday it looks hot and humid with only a small rain chance. There is slightly better rain chance for Thursday and Friday, while nothing looks organized or even strong.
