Tuesday night, the Chattanooga City Council unanimously approved a resolution to rename a portion of Hickory Valley Road to honor a former Hamilton County mayor.

The council voted to rename the 3000 to 8599 blocks of Hickory Valley Road to Claude Ramsey Parkway.

Ramsey left his position as county mayor to serve as deputy governor during Bill Haslam’s first term.

Ramsey passed away in June of 2018. He was 75 years old.

The council did not say when the renaming of the road will happen.
