This weekend brings the opening of pools, picnics, and the unofficial start of summer. The temperatures seem to display this too, as forecast models indicate temperatures soaring well above normal this week.  Look for plenty of sunshine with a high near 90 today.

Wednesday will bring an isolated rain chance. At this time, there is only a 10% chance, mainly limited to the plateaus and the Blue Ridge Mtns. The heat will continue to crank each day, inching near the record highs beginning on Thursday.

It's possible we'll come close to a 129-year record on Thursday. The forecast is 91, and the record high is 93, set in 1889. Through this weekend, and into early next week, forecast highs will come within 3 degrees of the record highs, bringing unseasonably warm temperatures for the last week of May! Memorial Day weekend, looks well, like Memorial Day weekend. High temperatures are expected in the mid-90s.
