A home in Harrison was destroyed by fire on Saturday afternoon, leaving a family homeless.

It happened shortly before 1:00 p.m. at a home in the 7000 block of Sims Road.

Hamilton County EMS spokeswoman Amy Maxwell says Highway 58 volunteer firefighters arrived at the scene to find flames coming from the back of the home.

Maxwell says the home is a total loss with damages estimated at $200,000.

The Red Cross was called in to help the family of seven people who lived in the home.

The cause of the fire is unknown and under investigation.
